Reaching Moses Lake, the Columbia Basin and Beyond

One of the final commands Jesus left us with His disciples is to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20). At Moses Lake Alliance Church (MLAC) we not only believe this was a command for their day, but also for us today as well. We embrace this teaching and seek ways to fulfill its command. As a church we are to actively make disciples, baptize new converts, while providing biblical training, all to be obedient to Jesus Christ.

So what does that look like for MLAC? First, in conjunction with other local evangelical churches in town, we desire to see that every person in Moses Lake is introduced to Jesus Christ. Second, to assist other evangelical churches in the Columbia Basin to introduce every person in their communities to Jesus Christ. Lastly, is to participate in many significant ministries around the world.

This may seem like a very large task for such a small group of people here at MLAC. However, the word “go” in Matthew 28:19, is an active word to go and keep on going. Imagine the eleven disciples hearing this word from Jesus and thinking, “Hey, there is only eleven of us!” Yet, these eleven dedicated disciples fully immersed themselves into this very command. Those eleven changed the world, so much so that we feel the affects of their work even today.

God has specifically designed each person within this church to fulfill a ministry in and with the Church (1Corinthians 12). The heart of membership and community at MLAC is to help people find their place of ministry and to function as one body with many parts. Some churches are interested in emphasizing bodies, buildings and bucks. No doubt, systems and structures are an important part of the ministry here. But, the true assessment of our church ministries is determined by participation, and those who come into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
