Resources and Information: How Do I Become A Christian
Answering the Call... How to Become a Christian
Becoming a Christian is also called conversion, salvation, being born-again, walking with the Lord, a being a follower of Christ, or a disciple.
The Bible clearly states how to become a Christian. There are several verses in the book of Romans that outline the steps for making this important decision. The following verses are known as the “Romans Road”:
1. Admit that you are a sinner.
· Romans 3:10-12
“There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
· Romans 3:23
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
· Romans 5:12
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned…”
2. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for payment of your sins.
· Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
· Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
3. Confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.
· Romans 10:9-10
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
· Romans 10:13
“ for ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
4. Begin your new life in a loving relationship with God, knowing that it will last forever.
· Romans 8:38-39
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
A Prayer to Become a Christian:
Lord, I know I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin. I recognize that You died for ME and paid the price for MY sin. I accept Your gift and ask You to come into my heart and life right now. In the name of Jesus the Christ we pray, Amen.
